MARCUS MILLER
Marcus Miller has spent much of his career as an R&B producer but he is also one of the most talented electric bassists around. He played R&B as a youth and had stints with Bobbi Humphrey (1977) and Lenny White before becoming a studio musician. Miller was an important part of Miles Davis's band during 1981-82 and he collaborated with the trumpeter on several later projects including Tutu and the Music from Siesta. He also worked on some David Sanborn albums and appeared on the McCoy Tyner/Jackie McLean record It's About Time (1985). After Miles Davis's death, Marcus Miller put together his own group which performs many songs in the style of Davis' later band; they have recorded for the PRA label.
